Save the Date for the Greenway Nature Center Summer Kickoff June 3rd

FORT MILL, S.C., May 17, 2017—Join the Anne Springs Close Greenway for a Nature Center Summer Kick-Off and National Trails Day celebration on Saturday, June 3rd from 10a.m. until 2p.m. Visitors young and old can spend the day creek stomping, hiking, bug exploring, and joining in a wide variety of guided activities celebrating the Nature Center grand reopening and National Trails Day. Raffles will take place throughout the day, with attendees eligible to win a variety of prizes including a Greenway family membership, Fiddle ‘n Pig Shindig and Fall Frolic tickets, a classroom field trip, and more. Food vendors will be on site to fuel your day of adventures, and visitors are encouraged to bring a picnic to enjoy the summer weather with their families.

The event marks the reopening of the Greenway Nature Center, which has undergone major renovations in the last few months. In addition to being outfitted with new lighting, interactive exhibits and a fresh coat of paint, the Greenway’s education team has partnered with Comporium to provide innovative technology upgrades to the space, working to connect nature and technology for users to enjoy.

“The new improvements to the Nature Center make it a more inviting and hands-on place for families to stop in and enjoy while visiting the Greenway,” says Dr. Michelle Evans, Director of Education at the Greenway. “New additions include the live animal room featuring our reptiles and an indoor observation beehive, as well as new technology connections including Wi-Fi and interactive iPad displays.”

Kids can take technology outside by downloading Agents of Discovery, a free educational mobile game now available in the Apple App Store and Google Play. The game sends kids (ages 6-14) on an adventure to help recover the Agents of Discovery’s lost USBees, which are robotic bees that store knowledge around the world. On the Greenway, you can join Agent of Discovery ‘Felix the Fox’ to find out what happened to all the USBees by completing interactive challenges while hiking parts of the Greenway.
