2012 National Geographic Adventurer of the Year to speak at Greenway event on May 15
Jennifer Pharr Davis, 2012 National Geographic Adventurer of the Year, visits the Anne Springs Close Greenway on May 15th at 6:15pm for an evening of inspiration and encouragement as she discusses hiking the Appalachian Trail in a record-setting 46 days, becoming the first and only woman to hold this title. Jennifer has covered more than 14,000 miles of trails on six different continents, backpacked over 700 miles during pregnancy, walked across North Carolina while still nursing her newborn son and hiked in all fifty states with her two-year-old daughter. She is a proponent of “moving women forward” in every season of life.
The evening Ms. Davis will include live music from Brew Davis, Jennifer’s discussion on what it takes to keep going, and a book signing of Becoming Odyssa: Adventures on the Appalachian Trail, Ms. Davis’ bestselling adventure memoir. Copies of her book are available for purchase at the Greenway Gateway or through our online store.
The Greenway Speaker Series is a ticketed event at $21 for general admission and $15 for Greenway members 15+. A $5 special event parking fee per car applies to all. Greenway parking passes are permitted and can be purchased in our online store or at the Greenway Gateway. Add on a Gateway Canteen picnic bag to complete your evening. Bags are $35 or $50 with a bottle of wine (serves 2 and includes reusable cool bag, hummus & veggies, shrimp cocktail, fruit & cheese and pasta salad). Purchase tickets here.
