Anne Springs Close Greenway Celebrates Love the Greenway Month This April
This April, the Anne Springs Close Greenway℠ invites the community to celebrate ‘Love the Greenway Month.’ This month is a time to reflect on the role this protected landscape plays in fostering connection, well-being and conservation. For many, the Greenway is a place of quiet reflection along wooded trails, a space to reconnect with the outdoors or a setting to gather with family and friends through shared experiences. With each passing year, its value continues to grow as both a natural refuge and a vital community asset. Without the preservation and support to conserve this land, it could have been replaced by urban development. Through this campaign, the Greenway reinforces its mission to connect people to nature while inspiring long-term stewardship for generations to come.
“Earth Day reminds us how important it is to stay connected to nature,” said Elizabeth Bowers, Communications & Advancement Director for Leroy Springs & Company. “It also highlights the impact of protecting places like the Greenway, ensuring that both people and wildlife have a space to thrive, now and in the future.”
A key highlight of the month is the annual Earth Day Celebration on April 18 at the Lake Haigler and Farm & Stables entrances. The event will feature guided hikes, reptile encounters, Children’s Farm activities, lead-line horse rides, canoeing and fishing clinics, and interactive conservation opportunities. Additional activities include the Earth Day Campout on Friday, April 17, with a night hike, lawn games, crafts at Rush Pavilion and live music at the Greenway Canteen. Guests will have the opportunity to participate in the Earth Day Bass Tournament and Recycled Art Contest at the Lake Haigler entrance.
As part of Love the Greenway Month, Leroy Springs & Company will host a Job Fair on April 25, offering the community a meaningful way to connect more deeply with the mission behind the Greenway. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore a variety of open positions, from professional career opportunities to flexible seasonal roles. Staff from across the Leroy Springs & Company family of brands including Anne Springs Close Greenway, FLYERS Afterschool, Springmaid Mountain Retreat and Leroy Springs Golf will be available. A career with Leroy Springs & Company goes beyond a traditional job, offering the chance to contribute to a mission-driven organization focused on strengthening communities and creating lasting experiences through recreation, education and environmental stewardship.
Whether visiting for the first time or returning as a longtime member, guests are encouraged to experience all that the Greenway has to offer and to consider the role conservation plays in shaping the landscapes and experiences we value most.

About Anne Springs Close Greenway
Nestled amid beautiful lakes and hardwood forests, the Anne Springs Close Greenway℠ is a natural preserve more than twice the size of Central Park. Minutes south of Charlotte in Fort Mill, SC, its 2,100 acres serve as a natural buffer from urban development and provide a wide-open space for countless activities – from hiking, biking and horseback riding to picnics, kayaking and more. The land has ties to the Catawba Indians and the Civil War and has been permanently preserved for public use. The children of Anne Springs Close donated the land in honor of her lifelong commitment to recreation and the environment to provide a natural landscape for the community to enjoy. The Greenway℠ contains native plants and animals, historic buildings, a 40-mile network of trails, Greenway Gateway welcome center and facilities for weddings and other special events. As a non-profit organization, it depends on memberships, program fees, as well as private donations to support annual operations. The Greenway is owned and operated by Leroy Springs & Company Inc., a 501(c)3 organization that receives no government funding for its ongoing operations and programs.
