The Preschool on the Greenway recognizes the importance of connecting children to the natural world through discovery, education and recreation.

Preschool Camps

Come join us for any or all of our 10 weeks of Preschool summer camps! We offer fun, engaging theme-related activities throughout the summer for our Little Critter and Super "K" campers. Your child will have an exciting time exploring nature, water, animals, creeping critters, cooking, crafting and hiking all while making new friends! 

Preschool on the Greenway has been offering fun, creative and educational camps for over 20 years. Boys and girls ages 3 to 7 will find their mornings filled with fun and excitement. Camps run from 9am-12pm for Little Critter camps at the Complex and 9am-12:30pm for Super "K" camps on the Greenway.  Sign up quickly as spaces are limited.

Super “K” Camps   

(For children entering kindergarten or first grade in August 2017.)

9:00am – 12:30 pm

Held outdoors by the Nature Center on the Greenway, these weekly camps are designed for nature-loving, adventurous rising Kindergarten and first graders. Give your child the opportunity to learn and explore the great outdoors of the Greenway while having fun. Children will be doing hikes, crafts, and various nature-based activities throughout the week. We may also be getting wet with some creek exploring or water play. Don’t forget to wear sun screen and insect repellant! Bring a nutritious snack and water bottle each day.  

**Week 1 – May 30-June 2: Passports to the Greenway
Passports? That's right! You will receive a Greenway passport and get a special stamp as we visit different sites on the Greenway. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes for a lot of walking as we discover the many things to do and places to see on the Greenway.
Week 2 – June 5-9: Spiders, Snails and Snakes, Oh My!
We spend this week searching for and learning about spiders, snails and snakes.  A visit from the Greenway pet snakes will be the highlight of the week.
Week 3 – June 12-16: Navigating Nature
Investigating and learning all about nature will be our goal this week as we navigate our way around some interesting sights and sounds on the Greenway.
Week 4 – June 19-23: Creekside Creations
Do you like getting your feet wet and digging through dirt and mud?  Well, you are sure to enjoy Creekside Creatures.  Getting wet and muddy is a certainty as we explore and create art activities with things found along the Greenway creeks.
Week 5 – June 26-30: Sparkling Campfire Celebrations
A “sparkling” theme will find us creating campfire treats, crafts and learning all about the Greenway animals as we celebrate our nation’s birthday.
**Week 6 – July 3-7: Sticks & Stones
We’ll be hiking the trails to collect sticks and stones to create some very interesting crafts.
Week 7 – July 10-14: Pioneers on the Greenway
We will be stepping back in time and understanding how people lived in the pioneer days through visits to the log cabins, playing pioneer games and creating art and crafts from those days.
Week 8 – July 17-21: "I Spy" Nature Camp
“I Spy” games, scavenger hunts, daily hikes, art projects and water activities are a few of this week’s activities as we explore the Greenway.
Week 9 – July 24-28: Getting Down & Dirty
This week we definitely will get dirty so be sure to wear old clothes and shoes!  On our daily hikes we’ll be sliding down hills, exploring the dirt, the creek side and digging in the mud among other messy activities.
​Week 10 – July 31- Aug 4: Go Take a Hike
We’ll take some long hikes this week while stopping along the way to learn about the animals on the Greenway, having our snacks as a picnic by the waterfall and creek side.

Little Critter Camps

(For preschool age children, 3-1/2, 4, or 5) 3 year olds should turn 3 on or before January 1, 2017. Children must be potty trained at time of camp.)

Are you looking for that something extra for your preschooler? Try our Little Critter Camp with arts, crafts, outdoor play, and water time. Children will be swimming indoors on Tuesdays and Thursdays with outdoor water play on Fridays, so pack a swim bag with a towel. Please wear swim suit under clothes on these days. Each child needs to bring a nutritious snack.

Campers need to wear close toed shoes and sunscreen daily as we will be doing outside activities. Velcro tennis shoes are great! Space is limited.

**Week 1 – May 30- June 2: A Walk Through Nature
Join us for a week of hikes on the preschool hiking trail and other areas of the Greenway as we discover the wonders of nature.
Week 2 – June 5-9: The Big Backyard Adventure
We will be investigating the many things found in the backyard during summertime…bugs, mud, games and water fun.
Week 3 – June 12-16: Little Bakers
Grab your chef’s hat and join us as we bake our way through the week with yummy treats such as monkey bread and other goodies.
Week 4 – June 19-23: Hello Summertime!
Activities acquainting us with summer fun and safety – including nature hikes on the preschool trail, outdoor games, water activities, bubbles and lots more will make this a fun and inviting week for your preschooler.
Week 5 – June 26-30: Splish Splash Water Adventures
Be prepared to get wet!  Each day we will have different water activities which will prove to be lots of fun as we learn some interesting facts about water.
**Week 6 – July 3-7: Campfire Cooking
A week filled with camping adventures including cooking some fun foods you enjoy while camping.
Week 7 – July 10-14: Lions, Tigers and Monkeys, Oh My!
We will trek through the jungle of our minds and classroom to meet lions, tigers, monkeys and more.
Week 8 – July 17-21: Sticks & Stones
What can you make with sticks and stones?  Well, we will find out this week as hike outside gathering sticks and stones while enjoying nature on the preschool walking trail and other areas of the Greenway.
Week 9 – July 24-28: Sand In My Shoes
We will feel the sand in our shoes as we imagine traveling to the beach and enjoying fun in the sun as we learn about ocean animals and what can be found in the sand.
Week 10 – July 31- Aug 4: Bubblelicious
We will make our own bubbles this week and use the solution in painting and game activities.  We will even do a little cooking this week.
