National Trails Day Hikes

National Trails Day® is a day of public events aimed at advocacy and trail service. Thousands of hikers, bikers, rowers, horseback riders, trail clubs, federal and local agencies, land trusts, and businesses come together in partnership to advocate for, maintain, and clean up public lands and trails.  The Anne Springs Close Greenway is pleased to be part of this initiative and has planned a morning of hikes to get members on the trails and closer to nature.

 

8 am – Blue Star Entrance – approx 16 miles.  Blue Star to the Horse Barn and back.  Will take North Steele Creek on the way back.

8 am – Blue Star Entrance – approx 10 miles.  Hiking Paradise Loop, Avery Loop, Prairie Loop and Tunnel Trail.

8 am – Lake Haigler Entrance (meet at the Greenway Gateway) – approx. 10 miles.  Hike part of Lake Haigler Loop to the Lake Haigler Spillway,  Wild Azalea, Muscadine, Blue Star, Trestle Trail and Billy’s Walk.

9 am – Adventure Road Entrance – Fitness Hike –  2 miles. Archers Loop.

9:30 am – Lake Haigler Entrance (meet at the Greenway Gateway) – approx 5 miles.  Timberline, Peach Loop, Dogwood, Hugo Loop, Hickory, part of Lake Haigler Loop.

10 am – Adventure Road Entrance – Grist Mill Hike – appx 2.5 to 3 miles.

10 am – Lake Haigler Entrance (meet at the Greenway Gateway) – Family Hike – 2.65 miles. Ford Gap Loop, Wagon Loop.

11 am – Lake Haigler Entrance (meet at the Greenway Gateway) Naturalist Hike – 1.75 miles. Lake Haigler Loop

11 am – Adventure Road Entrance (meet at Bob Reid Field Trial Barn) – Scavenger Hunt Hike – 1.1 miles. Trekker Loop and Fern Forest Loop.
