Public Workshop: Bluebirds
9:00 am - 11:00 am
From a conservation perspective, tree-cavity-nesting birds, such as Eastern bluebirds, endure habitat loss and competition from non-native birds, such as starlings and house sparrows. The introduction of bird boxes have helped tree-cavity-nesting birds successfully increase their populations.
This workshop will present how the three bluebird box trails at the Anne Springs Close Greenway are monitored. Materials will be provided to build five bluebird boxes. Participants will then walk to some existing boxes to discuss how to mount them. At the end of the workshop, two bird boxes will be raffled off, and the remaining three will be mounted out here on the Greenway!
Cost: $18 per person
