FAQs
Do I need to be a Greenway member to participate?
No. For this weekend only, you do not need to be a member to participate. The rest of the year, fishing is only allowed for Greenway members.
Are supplies provided?
We will provide stringers to manage your catch. You must bring all other supplies (rod, reel, tackle, etc.).
Will someone be there to assist with baiting or fishing?
Participants are responsible for their own gear and process (baiting, casting, hook removal, etc.).
Can I help my child during the youth tournament?
You are allowed to HELP your child, but please remember it is a youth tournament and is meant to be a fun, friendly, atmosphere. They should be the ones to cast, reel, and feel the sense of accomplishment for catching a fish.
Do I need a fishing license to help my child?
Yes.
Are we restricted to fishing docks?
No, you are welcome to explore the shoreline but fishing is not allowed from land dams.
What happens to the fish we catch?
Up to 10 lbs of bass per acre of lake will be collected. We will donate that fish to the Carolina Raptor Center to feed their birds, or you can take your catch home. We will release any fish caught after that quota is met. You must also release any fish that are not bass.
What kind of bait can we use?
Participants may use any bait except for live minnows/bait fish.
Can I drive my gear all the way to the lakes?
No. You must park in the designated parking lots and carry your gear to the tournament area.
Can I fish from a kayak, canoe or paddleboard?
Yes, but you must park in the designated parking lot and carry your boat to the lake. Properly fitting PFDs must be worn at all times while on the water.
