The Event
The Anne Springs Close Greenway presents Lazarus Lake for its first Greenway Speaker Series event of 2023. In an intimate outdoor setting, Lake will discuss conservation and the importance of keeping green spaces green.
The Speaker
Author and ultramarathon creator and director, Lazarus Lake created the Barkley Marathons, an unforgiving backyard ultra that only the strongest complete. Despite the seemingly impossible nature of his ultra-races, Lake conveys the underlying message, "Ordinary people can achieve extraordinary things."
Look for Lake's book, "The Big Dog Diaries" and the film about his Barkley Marathons races, "The Barkley Marathons: The Race That Eats Its Young." The film is available for free on YouTube.
The Extras
Lake will speak at the Rush Pavilion at the Lake Haigler Entrance, providing an intimate opportunity for discussion. Participants need to bring a chair or blanket. The Gateway Canteen will be serving a full menu. This event takes place during our busy, weekend-long Earth Day Celebration.

Programs are rain or shine, except for severe weather. If we cancel due to severe weather, we will provide a full refund. If you cancel more than 48 hours in advance, we will provide a refund. If you cancel with less than 48 hour notice, you will not be eligible for a refund or the option to reschedule.
