Blue Star Blazers - Hiking Club
With the cooler fall weather around the corner, there may be some impromptu hikes that get posted on Facebook. If you are on Facebook, search for the Anne Springs Close Greenway Hiking Club and request to join the group.
Blue Star Hike - Meet at the Complex Trail Head at 9:00 am. Bring food and water. Will hike to the horse barn and back on the Blue Star trail, 17-18 miles. If you’d like to do half, folks are working out shuttling, please email back if interested. (Steve)
A couple of shorter hikes; do one or both. Both are loops that start and end at the first parking lot at the Adventure Rd entrance. 10:00 am – 1 mile Trekker Loop around Lake Crandall. 10:30 am – 2 mile Archers Loop. (Debbie)
6:00 pm Night Hike. Meet at the Greenway Gateway (Lake Haigler entrance), approx. 2.5 mile hike. Bring your head lamp or flashlight. (Debbie)
10:00 am. We’ll join the Blue Blaze Hiking Club at McDowell Nature Preserve. Start in the parking lot of the McDowell Camping area, which will be your first left after entering the Nature Preserve from Park Road. Hike is approx. 4 miles.
10:00 am to noon. Adopt-a-Highway pick up. Park in the Wing King parking lot along hwy 160 (entrance off Doby’s Bridge Rd). Supplies provided.
10:00 am hike with Blue Blaze Hiking Club at George Poston Park in Lowell, NC. 5.6 mile, moderate hike with minimal elevation change. Address: 1101 Lowell Spencer Mountain Rd, Gastonia, NC 28056 - meet in the main parking lot, when you turn left into the park.
Due to wet conditions Horse, Bike and Dog Park trails are closed. Hike trails are open.
