Meet the Teachers

We may have 2,100 acres at our fingertips, but our preschool's greatest asset is its amazing team of educators. Anne Springs Close Greenway's preschool teachers nurture the whole child, instill a passion for learning and are not afraid to get their hands dirty!

preschool teacher Jen
Jenn Berman, Preschool Program Coordinator/Lead Teacher, University of Maryland B.S. & M.Ed - Early Childhood Special Education. “I teach because I believe in the importance of positive educational experiences. I love watching kids learn. The moment a child accomplishes something they have been working on or has that 'aha moment' when they figure out something, is one of the best things about teaching. I love hiking and being out in nature. My favorite Greenway trail is probably taking Steele Creek from the swinging bridge, then looping on Blue Star to the Dairy Barn. I love seeing Pileated Woodpeckers and Hawks out on the Greenway too. My favorite children's books from my childhood include 'Goodnight Moon' or 'Richard Scary’s Things that Go,' but a more recent favorite is 'Roxaboxen.'
Amy Degrush, Greenway Preschool Teacher
Amy DeGrush, Greenway Preschool 4s Teacher, M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education and Development. "As a teacher, there is nothing more rewarding than witnessing those moments when a child’s eyes light up because they tried something new, tackled a challenging task or made a new connection or discovery. I love to make, create, play and learn, and being a preschool teacher allows me to do that every day! Outside of school, I enjoy cooking, traveling and hiking. My favorite Greenway Trail is the Trestle Trail, and my favorite children’s books are 'The Mountain that Loved a Bird' and 'Last Stop on Market Street.'"
Rosemary Kinch, Greenway Preschool 3s Teacher
Rosemary Kinch, Greenway Preschool 3s Teacher, Environmental Educator/Masters in Experiential & Outdoor Ed. "I love to encourage others to discover and experience the joys and benefits of the natural world we share. I love being outside- gardening, hiking, reading, and sharing life with family and friends. My favorite plants are trees of all kinds! I collect children’s books, so one favorite is 'The Secret Garden' by Frances Hodgson Burnett."
Mandi Faulkner, Greenway Preschool Teacher
Mandi Faulkner, Greenway Preschool 4s Teacher, Northwest Missouri State University BS Psychology & Minor in Family and Child Studies. "I’ve always known working with children would be part of my job, and getting to do this at the Greenway in nature is just a great perk. I enjoy reading and walking my dogs. My favorite color is green, and my favorite Greenway trail is in the Mary Warner Mack Dog Park. My favorite children's book is, 'Where the Wild Things Are.'"
Kari Kroh, Anne Springs Close Greenway's nature-based preschool teacher
Kari Kroh, Greenway Preschool 4s Teacher, B.S. Human Development at Penn State. "I spent the early part of my career working in Human Resources. I 'retired' from that field when I started my family. Since then, I have been volunteering in the public schools and serving as a running coach with Girls on the Run program. I even got my start at the Greenway by volunteering in both the Exceptional Equestrian and the Nature Education Homeschool Programs. The Greenway combines two of my favorite things - working with children while being outside! My favorite Greenway trail is the Blue Star!"
Smitha Sasidharan, Ms. Smitha, Preschool Teacher
Smitha Sasidharan, Greenway Preschool Older 3s Teacher, Bachelor in Technology & Science. "I enjoy working with kids, and I love the outdoors. Teaching at the Greenway fulfills both my passions. I enjoy biking and hiking, especially Prairie Loop at the Adventure Road Entrance. My favorite animals are elephants, and my favorite children's book is, 'Giraffe's Don't Dance.'"
