Meet the 2025 ASCG Race Ambassadors
The Anne Springs Close GreenwaySM hosts four thrilling races throughout the year – three at the Greenway and one mountain race at our sister property in Spruce Pine, NC. Each event has a unique vibe and provides opportunities to experience the best of the Greenway’s trails throughout the seasons.
Greenway Race Ambassadors are members of the community who inspire others to get close to nature through low-impact recreation and promote the Greenway’s incredible trail races. Following an application process this past fall, the Greenway is excited to introduce our 2025 race ambassadors.
Amanda Ghent (Rock Hill, SC)
Amanda Ghent and her family have been proud members of Anne Springs Close Greenway for the past five years, with only one regret – they wish they had joined sooner! Amanda enjoys running trails, whether solo or with company, finding equal joy in both. In April 2021, she completed the Greenway’s Trail Passport, covering over 150 miles to familiarize herself with the trail system. “My favorite trail is Peach Loop,” Amanda said, “because the terrain is less technical, and if making your way back to the Lake Haigler entrance, it’s a NICE downhill sprint!
Over the years, Amanda has participated in countless races on the Greenway’s trails, set two course records and claimed several “segment crowns” on Strava. For Amanda and her family, her favorite Greenway moments are seeing the Dairy Barn entrance covered in snow (no matter how rare!) and getting to interact with the horses when riders stop to let them say hello.

Ameya Datey (Charlotte, NC)
As an active member of the greater Charlotte running community, Ameya Datey takes pride in promoting races and events on social media. “I participate in various trail running groups, fostering a sense of camaraderie and support among fellow enthusiasts,” he said. “My middle-of-the-pack running speed has earned me a reputation for being approachable and inspiring to newbies who are just starting their running journeys.”
Trail running is particularly exciting for Ameya because it allows a closer association with nature and tranquility that is unmatched on the road. He also enjoys how the unique challenges of trail running, such as changing trail conditions, increase his adaptability and resilience. Ameya is also a beginner mountain biker who enjoys exploring on two wheels, adding an exciting dimension to his outdoor adventures and providing opportunities to connect with a wider community of outdoor enthusiasts.

Geo Marques Neto (Charlotte, NC)
Geo Marques Neto discovered the Anne Springs Close Greenway at the Jimmie Johnson Foundation Fit Fest in 2017 and has since come to see the property as a true oasis. “The Greenway is a natural sanctuary tucked away from the urban bustle, yet wonderfully accessible to all outdoor enthusiasts,” he said.
Having conquered a variety of events—from the challenging Ragnar Race to the Mill Stone 10-miler—running at all hours of the day and night, and experiencing the trails in every type of weather, what excites Geo most about being a Greenway Race Ambassador is the opportunity to share this “hidden gem” with others. “The Greenway isn’t just a collection of trails; it’s a place where the stress of daily life melts away with each step on the natural paths,” he said. “I’ve experienced firsthand the unique character of each race here and can’t wait to help others discover their own adventures on these beloved trails. “

Stephanie Austin (Waxhaw, NC)
For Stephanie Austin, running has always been a powerful part of her life, both for staying active and as a mental reset. “What I love about the Anne Springs Close Greenway is how it offers a peaceful escape right in the heart of nature,” she said. Stephanie’s favorite trail at the Greenway is Blue Star, which weaves through diverse landscapes and offers a unique view of the entire property.
As an ASCG Race Ambassador, Stephanie is excited to help others discover and connect with the Greenway, just as it has inspired her. “Trail racing reminds me of the power of perseverance and the joy of crossing the finish line, and it’s always inspiring to see people of all backgrounds come together through running.”
