Private 12-Acre Dog Park Provides Unique Setting for Dogs of All Sizes to Socialize
FORT MILL, S.C., May 11, 2015 — Come. Sit. Stay. The Mary Warner Mack Dog Park is set to open on Saturday, May 23rd with a one-day free entry for all. An Open House is scheduled from 10am – 2pm with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10a.m. Volunteers and select exhibitors will be on site welcoming visitors and orienting them to this new premiere dog park. For safety concerns, children 12 and under are not permitted inside the Dog Park.
The Mary Warner Mack Dog Park features over 12 acres of enclosed natural space for dogs of all sizes to play and socialize. Situated among a mature hardwood forest and young stand of longleaf pines, the park provides a unique setting for dog lovers to enjoy time with their pets and is dedicated in loving memory to the life of Mary Warner Mack.
“The Mary Warner Mack Dog Park promises to be among the most unique dog parks in the southeast. It was made possible by more than 750 donors from across the nation that came together in support of the Mack family last summer after the sudden loss of their daughter, Mary Warner Mack,” said Andy Kane, Chairman of the Greenway’s Board of Managers. “The park is a fitting tribute to a young woman who lived passionately and who positively impacted the lives of so many who were privileged to know her.”
The park is open to dogs of all sizes and includes a designated area for small dogs, as well as a mile-long off-leash trail leading to lakefront access. Other park amenities include a dog washing station, hydration stations, dog waste collection stations and benches. A memorial has been commissioned by the Mack family from Lancaster-based sculptor, Bob Doster, who has been recognized regionally for his unique metalwork.
