Riders Learn and Compete at the Anne Springs Close Greenway
FORT MILL, S.C., April 4, 2017— Spring has begun its transformation of the Greenway’s trails and pastures, and what better way to enjoy the longer days and milder weather than at the Anne Springs Close Greenway’s Spring Horse Show taking place on Saturday, April 8! The bi-annual equestrian event brings together over a hundred participants of all skill levels to take classes and compete in over 40 categories including English, Western, Walking Horse and Games classes, with ribbons awarded to top-five finishers. Hundreds of spectators will come out to support their favorite riders and to enjoy the day’s festivities.
The show begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Greenway, in Fort Mill, S.C., with registration prior to the event. Cost is $10 per horse per class. BBQ, hamburgers, and hotdogs will be available throughout the day. Admission to the Greenway is free, with a $5 special event parking fee per car.
The Horse Show classes include Pole Bending, Ribbon to Ribbon, Cloverleaf Barrels, Egg-and-Spoon and “Jack Benny” for riders ages 39 and above. A negative Coggins test result is required for horses’ participation. Proper attire is not necessary, however all riders under the age of 18 are required to wear a helmet. Just minutes south of Charlotte, the riding ring is located at the Greenway’s Lake Haigler entrance off U.S. 21 Bypass at Coltharp Road, Fort Mill.
