Two Trail Races Cap the Year at Anne Springs Close Greenway

Embrace History and Make New Memories at the Springmaid Trail Race and Night Owl 5k

Join us as we continue the storied tradition of the Springmaid Trail Race on November 4 or make new memories at the inaugural Night Owl 5k on December 8. Both races benefit the Anne Springs Close Greenway and the vision of preserving a place for people to celebrate and experience nature for generations to come.

Springmaid Trail Race

Now in its 44th year, more than 400 runners are expected to toe the starting line of the Springmaid Trail Race at the Greenway Gateway, located at the Lake Haigler entrance (2573 Lake Haigler Drive, Fort Mill, SC 29715). Nothing says ‘fall’ like a brisk morning of trail running over crunching leaves and beautiful singletrack. Whether you’re joining us for the 5K & Dog Jog (top overall pups get medals!), tackling the 10k or Half Marathon, or cheering on friends – there will be fun for all!

The Springmaid Trail Race continues its tradition of supporting the Greenway’s Mary Warner Mack Dog Park, a 12-acre dog park located at the Adventure Road entrance (104 Adventure Road, Fort Mill, SC 29715). Race participants and spectators may visit the dog park on race day. Dogs are welcome inside the park for our Tales & Ales Dog Wash & Dog Park Open House with proof of spay/neuter and vaccination records, including Bordetella, rabies and DHPP vaccinations.

  • WHEN: Saturday, Nov. 4 with staggered start times based on course distance. Packet pickup available on Thursday, Nov. 2 from 4-6pm at the Lake Haigler entrance. Day-of registration and packet pickup is also available.
  • WHERE: Lake Haigler entrance, 2573 Lake Haigler Drive, Fort Mill SC 29715.

Night Owl 5K

The Night Owl 5K also starts and finishes at the Lake Haigler entrance, offering a full event experience for participants and spectators alike: order food and drinks from the Gateway Canteen, roast marshmallows at the firepits, shop for gear and memberships in the visitor center and have an all-around great experience!
